Ceremony, Fallen Hero Highway signs to honor two brothers, one son

S. Army and their ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation during an upcoming ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, according to a news release.Fallen Hero Memorial Highway signs for Norman Francis, David Lynn Evans and David L. Evans will be dedicated in a ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at Veterans Memorial Park through the Committee on Memorials and Remembrance, with the assistance of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Klamath Falls.Three Fallen Hero Memorial Highway signs will be on display at the park for the dedication ceremony. Two signs are to be placed along Crater Lake Parkway in honor of Norman and David Evans who died in Vietnam in 1970 and 1968. The Evans family is one of four Oregon families to lose two sons in the Vietnam War. The third sign will be for David L. Evans, Norman’s son and David’s namesake. Sgt. David L. Evans served two tours in Iraq. During his second tour, he was wounded and those wounds contributed to his early death at the age of 31 in 2011. This sign will be placed on Highway 39/140 near Eternal Hills Cemetery.Presentations will be given by Sen. Dennis Linthicum (R-Klamath), State Rep. E. Werner Reschke (R-Klamath), Klamath County Commissioner Derrick DeGroot and Klamath Falls VFW Commander Karen Johnson.
